Happy Wednesday All! Today, Wednesday, February 8th I have tons on my work desk! I'm not even gonna show you all of what is on my plate today....just a wee bit too much!
I have been sulking in bed not able to do much as Modgepodge and gel mediums and gesso just don't work that well. I could just see me gessoing my honeys hair for a mixed media collage! tee hee. So, I have been drawing and thinking up creative ideas have been roaming around in the bedroom with me!
I have so much to do and am hoping this stomach bug will quickly go away. But, fighting it off takes alot out of me as I have a low imune system so I'll make this POST for WOYWW short and sweet.

Mixed Media Malacious Fish Swap. The fish that have been submitted so far by other members
are turning out to be fabulous! I'm crossing my fingers that mine will be that good.

This is a 12x12 mixed media canvas that I have just started. I am working
on the background still and have a bit more techniques to use on it before
I can really get down to business on it!

This is my mixed media journal that I just started working on. I just
completed the front and back cover with my crackle used technique
and after this dries, I can work on adding my title and "stuff"
to really deck my first art journal out with. I figured it was time that
I create an art journal. I have kept personal journals for years and figured
why not try an art journal too this year. So, I guess you are coming
along with me on my 2012 art journal! Wow! Now, how did I rope
you all in to this? tee hee

I found this quote on one of my friends signature over at atcsforallcom and thought it was perfect for the beginning of February 2012 as Valentine's Day is just around the corner.

A quick shot of my desk (still in shambles) that has been begging me to clean it up and get back to my organization skills. Ummmm...maybe this weekend? LOL

Birdy Birdy Couplets Swap

Also, I have been finishing up some Birdy Birdy Couplets for a Swap which is due this weekend, and also my layout for the new Moley group I have joined for 2012. I love Moleys and art so it makes perfect sense for me to join another one. I'm hoping to have two groups this year. Something to help keep me busy. Well, I'm off to finish these projects and get them posted in the mail!

Altered Paper Hands

Thanks for stopping by! I just wanted to share with you a few completed "Altered Hands" for the PIF Thread Group over at ATCsforall.com and a 6x4 postcard.

Zombie hand with added fibers, blood filled vile, tiny skull and a syringe.
This hand is going to Oddbreed who just loves zombies!!
I do hope she enjoys it!

This photo is a close up of the bottom of the zombie hand.
I hand drew a Zombie sign and then added fibers, along with
the vile of blood, the skull, the syringe.

A cute little anime for Weare138. She is headed
off to Scotland now and I do hope she arrives safely.

"Paradise Smiles" is what I have titled this peice.
This was made just for Wildholly.
It will be so relaxing for Holly when her travels have
ended and she opens her mail to a beautiful hand.

This is a 6x4 postcard for Mikesatcs.
Mike requested a personal trade and he
wanted a "Creepy Doll".
I first had started this drawing with just pencil
but the more I did something on her, I just didn't like
how it was turning out. Needless to say, she has been drawn
with prismacolor markers and I love how she turned out.

I just love how they all turned out. I hope you enjoy! I hope that I will see you again, real soon!

Hi all! Thanks for stopping by again! I'm thrilled you have come back for another visit, or if you are new, thanks for atleast taking a peek! I'm not one for words, not that I don't have lots to say or tell you, and its not the lack of being able to type just about 97 words per minute, it's the lack of recooperating after an enjoyable weekend in Mesa Arizona with friends from over at www.ATCsforall.com.

Just a few artists (nearly 35) from around the nation showed up at a Gathering called, "Artzona". My totally awesome friend Trina hosted and organized everything fantastically! It was a pleasure to meet friends with different styles, different medium methods, and above all, girls who know how to have a fun eventful, totally awesome, inspiring Weekend!

While we were there, we were able to trade ATCs, 4x6 postcards, and 4x4 chunkies or squares. I just could get over the vast variety of individuals and their particular medium they used. Color was so pleasing and tempting to the eye, I don't think I was able to gather all the information in my head like I wanted. BUT, I did grab my notebook and jotted down some fun, fresh ideas that were tossed around the room from the girls around me.

So as I am recovering (for my third day), I will leave you with a shot of my desk and my make-shift desk on my nice cozy comfty bed!

Happy Wednesday!
I have been busy working on putting final touches on some projects. I have created 19 4x4 chunky pages to draw on, and have a few packages that need to be sent off before tomorrow as I will be heading for Artzona for the weekend to meet up with some fellow artists. I can't wait! I'm so excited to be able to spend some time with some great artists from allover the country. We will have some from Oregon, California, Georgia, Texas, and then ME from NV.
I have completely covered my art desk with items galore that really haven't been touched as I had to move to the dinning room table to "spred out" my art pieces for trading with the girls! I have completed all of my ATCs and today will spend numbering them and cataloging them into my filing system to make trading much easier on me! I love my set up I have and it works so fast and simple. I love to have things in order, so you can imagine why I don't want to touch my art studio yet! My brain is overloaded and I don't know where to start! But, I think after this weekend get-away, I will take charge and tackle the re-organization of my art studio! I just have to talk myself into it! Don't be suprised if the next time you see my art studio you will see nothing but desk, because all of it will be on the floor to re-organize, throw out, donate, or thrown back on my desk!!

Altered Hand for Weare138 who's participating
in the atcsforall.com PIF Altered Hand. This hand
will be heading for Scotland today.

A few unfinished 4x4 and 8x10 altered Cavas'.

Three packages that need to be sent out this afternoon.
(Notice I haven't finished my Zombie Hand from last week?)

Here are 19 altered 4X4 chunkies that are just calling my
name to draw on them and then be put up for trade. They will
be going with me to Artzona tomorrow.

Here are two finished 4X4's that are drying. I was just trying
out different mediums to use on them. Both pictures are
hand drawn with Marker and ink and then used different
mediums on them. The Bird has Clear gesso on it, so it
has a roughness to it so I can add more artwork to it.
The mermaid has been finished with Modge Podge and then
gel medium matte on it. I don't know if I will keep the matte
on it and may upgrade to a heavy gel medium to protect
the mermaid after I add a cute little seahorse to the side of her.

WOYWW~ A bit late

I am sooo late in posting my WOYWW for Wednesday January 11, 2012, but I made a goal for this year to post each and every Wednesday so I can participate in Julia Dunnit's What's On Your WorkDesk Wednesday that she has been graciously hosting for a few years now.

This past week, I have not used my desk much as I have been cozy and comfy creating on my mounds of bed pillows. What? Did I just type that right? Yep, I did. This past week, I have spent creating in the bedroom while watching old movies. I am preparing for an AFA Art Gathering in Arizona next week and have been spending hours upon hours drawing, coloring, creating ATC cards and 4x4 chunkies to trade with the other participating artists. Not to mention, that I am behind on a 4x6 postcard personal trade request for a creepy doll. A personal request 3 card ATC trade, along with an Altered Hand that should be sent out today, oh wait, yesterday? Since I am pretending today is my Wednesday, Janaury 11, 2012.

Lately, my mind can't come up with cute, adorable writing paragraphs and it sounds so BLAH, BLAH, BLAH to me, I think I will stop talking and show you my desk for the week (including my office bed).

An Altered Zombie Hand for a PIF over at ATCsforAll.com
And, NO, I did not drink the contents of the empty bottles of Jack Daniels nor Smirnoff Vodka.
I snagged them to create an altered project with them.

Here are a bunch of chunky 4x4's to start working on for my trip to Arizona.

Just a few ATCs that I have created for trade. I just have some
finishing touches on some of them and then to start numbering them all.

Just some more completed ATCs waiting to be traded.

Here are 3 bird ATC cards that I just started this morning and
need to get back to, to finish up and also number for trade.

My final ATC to finish up with detail. He has been drawn with ink
and colored in with Markers. He is drawn on a piece of illustration
board that I found to be to cardboardy posterboard with massive bleeding tendencies.
I wish I could remember the name of it so I can warn you NOT to purchase it.
If I can locate it, I'll post it with MY review of the product. I was highly
disappointed but managed to illustrate some of the ATCs I used from it
and muddled to look decent.

An altered Hand made of cardstock and covered both sides with
Scrapbook cardstock (so I can decide which side I want to use
to create and alter).

Finally, Started on my "Creepy doll" 4x6 postcard trade with Mike
over at ATCsforall.com. I think this will be a composite of Ink, pencil,
marker and pencil on 110lb. white cardstock.

I will definately post pictures of all completed projects. Thank you so much for stopping by

The beginning of a New Year. The close of another Year. The first What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday for 2012. You can join Julia's WOYWW over on her blog at: http://stamping-ground.blogspot.com

I'm sure that the holidays had many of you busy juggling between family, friends, work, and creating art. Our home seemed to be just that! I was able to meet my birth-daughter over the holidays as she came to spend Christmas with me and her three younger brothers. It was if she had grown up with the boys. They (and I) were very amazed at the similarities of personalities, looks, likes, dislikes, and etc. between the four of them. I was amazed at the opportunity I had to meet this young woman whom I said goodbye too over 24 years ago when I was a teenager.

Besides the reunion and the normal hussle and bussle of the holidays, we celebrated a surprise wedding of my oldest son to his beautiful, adorable girlfriend suggested by the Brides parents! Yes, the Brides parents. So, with just a day and a half of running through-out the streets of Vegas to cover all the preparations ranging from wedding dress to tuxedo to flowers, shoes, and venue, we were able to celebrate their union as husband and wife Vegas Style. Unfortunately, the only things missing were the Brides parents, but they will be hosting a reception later on for the new couple.

With the start of 2012, I wanted to express that I am very thankful for a wonderful husband and my children. Without them, I don't think my life would feel complete. I may not be able to help out as much as I would like, I value the time that I have to have great relationships with all of them. My husband is my best friend. I cherish our time. I enjoy our time. He just twitterpaits me!

Amongst the Holidays, I was able to get a few days of relaxation in and work on some ATCs for trade over at www.atcsforall.com with other artists and I was even able to sign up for a few ATC Swaps that are actively happening this month.

I'll share some of my artwork in just a bit, but I just wanted to thank you all for stopping by. Thank you for commenting. Thank you for your interest in what I do. I appreciate that YOU would stop by little ole' me to see what I am up too. I'm just one individual out of millions who enjoys art and creating, who loves to share with you. Hi guys! I can't beleive that I haven't posted in just over 2 months. I am so sorry. Dealing with some health issues for the past year and one of them is the pain in my hands, and fingers. It is very painful to text, type, draw, paint, but hopefully, with the Doctors help I can start managing the stingy pain and get back to normal.
I just wanted to share with you just a few projects that I have worked on the past two months. I'm having fun using my creative side and working on compiling my thoughts into actual projects. Just that dang health medication affects ya and gives you those days of not being able to do anything. Not even remember the slightest words you are looking for in completing a sentance. I do hope that you will stick around. I appreciate those of you who are loyal to my blog and I do hope that I can give you some inspiration. Take Care! Hugs!

What's On Your WorkDesk Wednesday?

I'm so thrilled and excited to share some fun, exciting, emotional news about me! Early this week, I re-connected with my Birthdaughter. Yes! It's been almost 24 years since the adoption occurred. About six years ago, I began registering on a ton of Adoption websites. Last week, Kelli (my birthdaughters name) got on the computer and went to one of the sites and low and behold, she found my post immediately. She printed it out and showed her mom and dad. Then the communication began!
I'm so thrilled to share this with everyone. Adoption is and can be a touchy subject for some. I should know, I am also adopted.
So as for my workdesk, it's been put on hold. Here are some pictures of how my desk has looked this week. I haven't really touched anything.

Here in this picture is a BoBunny Kit that I was going to start working on.
And right in front an adorable, bright paper collection pad by g.c.d. called Margarita.

This is my other side of my desk this morning.I though with the
sunrise peeping through my dark red curtains displayed beautiful
rosebush imagery.

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?

Hi Ya'll!
Happy Wednesday! I hope this post finds you all well and crafting away like mad women (Men too)!
I have been working on a number of items this week. HOping to build up my inventory of completed projects for examples so that maybe I can get some Commissioning knocking to my door.

I have been very busy this week working on a few mini scrapbooks for some swaps I am participating in. I have been working on some mixed media projects, canvas', books, and of course the daily household chores that need to be done. Because of my health issues, I can not do alot of physical work, so I do one or two of these per day. Dusting seems to be the most tideious and repeat each and everyday. With living in the desert, dust is constinately being layered over every single item in the house. It's suprising how much dust can accummulate just in one day! I'll have to show you the amount of dust that travels. It is one thing I have to do daily due to allergies. I have thought about selling all my furniture and knick knacks so that the dust cannot settle on anything except the floors and walls. Uggghhh!

Ooppps! What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday has carried over to Thursday and Friday This week!

WOW! What a busy week I have had! They days have slipped past me with my To Do List this week! Has that ever happened to you? lol
Well, more importantly was the health of my mother-in-law "mom" as I call her. 3 years ago she had quadruple bypass surgery and had no one to help her accomplish her daily living tasks, so my hubby and I moved her up from Texas to live with us. "Mom" has been doing quite well this past week with her health until Tuesday evening. She wasn't feeling well and didn't get up at all. Which is not unusual for her but as I was just getting ready for bed, she poked her head in through the doorway and told me that her heart rate was going really fast, but this time, pain was associated it with. Jumping up from bed I helped her to lay back down on her bed, get her legs propped up and grabbing the blood pressure cuff, we went in to "Hospital" mode. Usually when Mom has these attacks, she takes one tablet of her metropolal prescription and within 5 minutes, her heartbeat is back to normal, But, Tuesday evening, around 8:00 pm her medication had no effect on her this time. Taking her blood pressure, her heart rate throughout our "Five Minute Limit" did not decrease or slow down to Moms semi-normal numbers, So, Paremdics were called in to assist her (Having SVT (Supracentricular Tachycardia) can be genetic, and one son was just recently diagnosed with it, and is currently recieving treatment.). With the call placed, it seemed forever for the medical team, or in this case, emergency 911 to respond. Their resonse time was unbelievably poor. But luckily, they were able to give her oxygen and an IV line, which did work and slow her rate down considerably. She was transferred to the hospital emergency room. By 2:30 am she was released to come home, And neither one of us (mom and I) were able to sleep. She laid down in her room and I went to my Art Studio. I haven't slept much since Tuesday. Maybe this weekend, I will catch up on sleep.

Vegas has been hit hard by the economy and we are hoping that it will slowly get better. Since I get to stay at home these days, I have been focusing on my ART (If you want to call it ART). My creative expression? My wanna be famous art? My self celebration? My art and soul release? lol whatever you may want to call it, is perfectly okay with me as long as you don't call it trash! LMAO

Happy Wednesday Ya'all!

Welcome to my What's On MY Wordesk Wednesday in the Peot Studio.

It has been a busy week so far, and I'm sure it will get busier by Friday Afternoon.

I try to keep my desk pretty organized, but right now I have a trillion ideas running through my mind of what I want to create, design, make, draw, and even ideas of how and what to throw away!

I have not had much time to create this week. Over the weekend, we started our Spring Cleaning (I should say Spring Deep Cleaning) of our house and it's just amazing the amount of Dust Las Vegas wind can carry and deposit within a few hours. Besides the heat, the Vegas winds are my secondary top item of "Things I don't like about Vegas". The winds here can be nasty, blowing desert sand here and there. I even think that the sagebrush gets picked up by the wind and combined with the sand, dirt, it is crushed into fine spects and spread evenly with the dust that settles. It just seems to be a never ending dust free environment, and you think I could convince the hubby to pack up and leave? ha ha....not on your life .

Home Office Transformed to.....MY NEW ART STUDIO!

Hi guys!
I thought I would share some before and after pictures of my Art Studio. I have formally transferred items from the kitchen/dinning room area to a wonderful, inexpensive Art Studio. My hubby built this room for me with just a tad bit of supervision. He is the bestest! He twitterpaits me!

Our goal to do this remodel was to not spend alot of money on this as I am still unemployed, and the market has just gone to pot.

We received some FREE office furniture. They are:

2 qty. 3x12 drafting desks
1 qty. book shelf
2 qty 3x12 feet drafting tables
1 qty 6 'x14" white shelf with brackets
1 qty 8'x15 shelf (we used some oldrusted, dirty shelf brackets that hubby had stored in the Garage)
2 qty overhead cabinets with doors

Materials/Items that were used that we have had stored in the Garage.
These items are:

2 under cabinet lights
BlockOut Red curtains, previously purchased at Ross's then modified and hemmed
to fir on my Studio Window.
All plastic Sterlite Containers
5 drawer dresser
3 moveable small carts

Items purchased:
3 80"x45 red block-out curtains (Cut, hemmed to fit on window)
2 gallons of white paint

The total dollar amount we spent on remodeling My New Art Studio
was approximately under $50.00.

I want to thank my scrubby hubby for taking the time and patience of re-fabricating the office pieces and installing them according to my blue print instructions! lol He is just fabulous! He means the world to me. He
said that he wanted me to have my own work space and all materials and mediums that I use in my artwork, all in one place instead of running back and forth from the kitchen/dinning room area to the office. I just can't express my love and gratitude he has done for me. I am just so thankful for him. I love you my Scrubby! *kisses*

Always, always be on the lookout for free office furniture. With all the downsizing in most companies these days, companies may be just tossing them out in the garbage. Like I said, my art studio isn't the snazziest, expensive, over the top Art Studio, but this was free. This arrangement is sooo soooo incrediably useful and fits my needs of counter space.

Hellooooo!

Happy Wednesday!

Oh, before I forget! I want to wish my youngest, Jacobi, Happy Happy 18th Birthday Yesterday!

Don't worry, I told him that yesterday, but we are actually going to celebrate it June when we

are all together. Am I really that old? Seems like the years have gone by so fast.

Okay, As for What's on my desk? hmmmmm....

Just a short post today as I have tons on my workdesk to complete! Ohhh who am I kidding? lmao
I have a few projects to complete! No! No! I'm working on a few projects and am hoping and crossing my fingers that I am able to almost complete or complete them. We will see.
I am transitioning into my Art Studio. Just a few odds and ends left to sort, file, organize, and toss in the garbage can.
Today, I am working on a few cigar boxes and A Traveling Moley (Shar's). Her theme is Circus Freaks and beyonnnnddd... Cute! I'm excited to do my 3 page layout for her and then pass it along to the next artist.

This is what my work surface is looking like today! Uggghhhhh!

What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday!

Welcome! Welcome to my What's On My Work Desk Wednesday! So glad you stopped by.

What a fabulous Wednesday Morning! The sky is clear blue and the sun is rising over the Eastern horizon. The dogs are content. Hubby has been sent off to work with homemade lunch in hand. I've
grabbed a cup of coffee and am watching Danny Kaye in the Inspector General on TCM (my favorite channel in the world) and browsing through emails, blogs, videos and more!

Monday, I spent a few hours outside trimming my rose bushes and my neighbors. I trim my next door neighbors rose bushes weekly as her husband past away a couple of years ago and he was the rose caretaker. Here are a few pictures I took during my trimming.

My work desk is a mess as I am slowly transitioning from the Dinning Room into my new Art Studio/Craft Room. Over the weekend, in between building and setting up furniture, I was able
to complete a few projects that I had started months ago.

The first two photos below are my final 12x12 Altered Canvas Wall Hanging. It will be for sale here on my blog towards the end of the week.

This picture below is a 5x7 flat canvas. This project was made with tissue paper, stickers, fussy cutting, stamps, modge podge, clear ribbon, and my husbands wedding boutonniere from years ago.

I haven't been around much at all. Busy, busy, busy! Besides being busy, I actually, honestly, forgot about posting for Julia's Work Desk Wednesdays. I am so, so sorry. As I submitted a post yesterday, that's when I remembered about WOYWW. tee hee.... Short term memory loss has been occurring with my medical condition, so we are watching it very carefully and documenting it.

In other important news, I have contracted my scrubby to help create an art studio for me. Our goal was to re-do our office into a studio without spending very much money. Sounds like there is no way to do it, huh? Well think again. My scrubby was doubtful at first, but, so far, the only dollar amount we have spent is $32.00 for paint. Everything else we had.Take a look at some before and during shots as my scrubby and I work on my Art Studio. I am planning to post the final pictures and video when completion is done.

Ohhh! Wait! Wrong Picture!

But, I just had to throw it in.

This little powder blue vulcan has Debba written all over it.

As a modest Motorcyclist, my son asked me to accompany him in search of

purchasing a motorcycle to use as transportation.

I came across... no! No! I was immediately mesmerized as I spotted her awaiting her

prey through and past all the hundreds of motorcycles that were each waiting to do the same.

To lure their prey. To get that individual closer, then capture the riders senses.

She was displayed clear across the other side of the floor room.

I knew I was going to be in trouble the moment I walked through the doors of

"Ridenow Powersports" in Las Vegas, NV

and found the love of my life

(not really,as my scrubby can not ever be replaced).

This is a gorgeous motorcycle. Absolutely GORGEOUS!

I defeated her in the battle! I would have to walk away from

that immaculate body. Her new smell. The zero miles on

the odometer. I even conquered the thought of taking her home with me.

I conquered her lure....

.... as I was unable to convince my 20 year-old to purchase

a cruiser instead of a Yamaha FZ6!

I had won her hypmotizing presence. Which, was

the most terrible, disguisting, horrid thing I ever accomplished or won!

"Someday", I told her....." I'll be back. And it will be you to fall in my trap!"

What's On Your Work desk Wednesday

Ohhh my apologies to my followers. I have not posted since the 28th of February. We (hubby and I) have been extremely busy the past few weeks.
With some sad news, my cockatail Charlie passed away Monday evening. I am heart broken as I no longer hear his chrup and fluttering. Kora, my german shepard, seems lost too, as Charlie would tease her daily and Kora has tried several times to get in the cage with him! No, not to eat him, but to play. Charlie would just taunt her throughout the day. It was funny to see and I am already missing him. The corner of the livingroom where he resided is now empty and seems out of place. I better change the subject before I get emotional again. He will be extremely missed.

At home, we have one of our Sons preparing to participate in his first Big HUGE Ameteur MMA Fight this Saturday here at the New Orleans Arena here in Vegas. You can check the event out at http://www.tuffnuff.com/ and then clicking the tab at the top of upcoming events. He is excited, but nervous. He has been practicing very hard. Training very hard, eating really healthly foods. I am very proud of him. We are very proud of him to accomplish such a goal for himself. He trains at WANDS gym here in Vegas. He loves his coaches, and trainers.

We are still in an adventure with my health issues. It's been a bumpy ride with still few results. It starts to take a toll on you physically, and mentally. Sometimes a drag, but my hubby and I will keep moving forward so we can figure everything out.

Gothic Door Book Cover- Fiona's Challenge

A friend of mine was hosting a Challenge over at YouTube. Fiona's channel is Jennings644. Check it out! You will absolutely love all of her videos that she has created. She is absolutely talented. Well, anyway, I completed my door last night, but had massive camera uploading issues. I finally gave up at 2am.

About my gothic door: It is 7.5X11". I used a dark brown cardstock to create my arch. Then cut out 1/2" strips of black paper and secured them to the brown paper. I have used recollection brads, 7 gypsie hinges, all roses are from wildorchidcrafts.com and the greenery is from Michaels floral section. The silver chipboard pieces are from Basic Gray and all I did was cut them to how I wanted and then painted them with Pilot Silver Marker. The door knocker is a ceramic face with added silver colored paper and an old binding ring handle I have had for years. It was absolutely fun to create and Thank you Fiona for a great Challenge. I hope you will enjoy these pictures and I hope to have you stop by more often.

Completion of 3 Page Moley Spread for Grrdjules!

I have finally finished Grrdjules 3 panel spread in her traveling Moley. Jules selected "They Draw & Cook" theme based on the actual website at http://www.theydrawandcook.com/ that Nate and Salli created. Absolutely a fun and enjoyable site of recipes and drawings all combined together.

I created my 3 page panel with one of my favorite Soups. My mom's Cheese Soup. This is definately a family recipe and brings up alot of memories about my mom. I hope that Jules will like it. So, drummmm rollll pppleease..teehee

The recipe is on the Moley pages and my three little cooks are securely attached to flip down so that Jules can see the actual recipe! Crazy idea! But it turned out better than I imagined. Leave me a comment or two.
Now, off I go the post office to get Jules moley sent to the next artist!

Happy Happy Wednesday To You My Friends! Happy days ahead will come. If I could make a wish for you, I would wish a Happy Happy Day to you!

This is what I have been working on. It's an altered Birdcage. It will be for sale. It is in Paris Theme as two hat boxes are in the center of the birdcage tied with sheer wire black ribbon. I have used pink, white and black flowers to decorate it and have woven lights through out the cage. I have 2 more in the makings and some fun other things that I have also been working on. I don't want to give too much away right now, so you'll have to stay tuned.

Now, for the other stuff that's on my desk this week, isn't as exciting as the Birdcage. Our Taxes. Nothing more exciting then that, right?

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday?

Well, on my workdesk this week are a few items. I just finished decorating my hubbys diamond steel manly man mailbox for Valentine's Day and a few scrapbook projects. Last Wednesday, my day got completely past me with Doctor apointments all week long. I didn't get too much of a break. This morning as the house is waking up to the Sunrise in Vegas, it is cold. Cold for Vegas, of course! Right now it's 25 degrees and the high for today is supposed to be 45. My bones ache from the cold. I'm a tin man who needs warmth to loosen up my bones and joints. That is sad for a 40 year old, huh? I am one that goes to bed early and tries to wake up early. I did say,"try to get up early". Some days I'm up at 6 and others by 7am. My aching hands and fingers don't thrill at me typing on the computer. They are begging me to stop moving and want to turn rigid cold like sitting at an old piano with my fingers just barely over the keys frozen in time. Hopefully by 10 o'clock they will stop hurting and relax a bit. As I am typing this quick note, it is taking me a lot longer to type with short breaks in between thoughts and comments to the pain and stiffness in my fingers. If this is what "getting old" means, then I would like to wait for a bit, if time permits me?
I am so grateful for my small group of friends who follow my blog. I am grateful for you taking the time to read my posts and look at some pictures. I appreciate you leaving comments. It helps me to keep being creative and share bits and pieces about me to you in hopes that someday I will have helped someone. Given some inspiration or atleast be remembered at some moment in time through your busy life.

Hi friends!
Last week went by so fast for me! Due to Doctor appointments I really didn't have time to do anything!
My hubby decided Friday afternoon that we should go up to BrianHead Ski Resort located in Utah just about 3 hours from Vegas. They were having a great deal! Lift pass, snowboard & boot rental and an hour and a half snowboarding class. My son and his best friend Lauren, my hubby and I left for the ski resort early in the morning (I am NOT a morning person). We got everyone set up ready to go and off they all went to try snowboarding and leaving MOM to hang out in the semi-small lodge. This was actually the first time I felt left out. But, due to having extensive back surgery, there was no way I was going to let boo-koo-bucks of titanum steel go down the drain. (Pouting Moment)
Like I said, this was the first time I ever felt left out since having my back surgery. I am an avid tomboy and love all sports. I have never snowboarded before and wish I could of participated with part of my family for this fun outing.
The weather was just perfect and Brianhead is a pretty big resort. We decided that we would stay at Navajo Lodge ski/snowboarding/tubing division of Brianhead. For just over 4 hours of snowboarding, my hubby (who hasnt skied since 1998) decided that his body could just not hack snowboarding anymore! TeeHee Now, for the record, I reminded Billy numerous times prior to him grabbing a seat on the lift. He's not 21 anymore and he has changed quite a bit! lol He was practically born at the ski resorts. He learned to ski at the age of 4 by a father who enjoyed skiing too and would take Billy once a week. My hubby is/was an excellent skier back in his younger years. Okay, I think I rambled enough for this post, but I will post some pictures of these fabulous, talented, awesome, undefeatable snow boarders! teehee ha ha ha

Hi there!

Happy Wednesday! waaahhhooooo!

I'm just so excited that today is Wednesday and I can share with you a bit of this and that!

This week has been a bit different from my normal routine. Yesterday I spent almost 6 hours working on installing some software on 2 of our 3 computers. So, needless to say, I have a lot of work to get caught up on.

This morning I am working on the completetion of a Mini Journal. I also just completed a desk calendar for my hubby and it turned out pretty cute.

As I mentioned in a previous post, that I am going to "Pay It Forward" for the Year and I was thrilled to send a RAK to a great young man, who is 15, and just passionate about what he does. He has a talented, creative mind and he will go far in life. His name is Drew and you can check his blog out at http://www.scrappyhappiness.com/. He doesn't know me from Adam, but I sent him 2 large boxes full of scrap paper, stamps, stickers, ribbon and more. It's a great feeling to "Pay It Forward" to anyone. You just really never know how and what you do can affect someone somehow.

What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday?

This morning, I am going to be working on (trying to make) a mini scrapbook. I have decided to make one because:
1. I have never made one before.
2. I have watched YouTube videos that were uploaded from some very talented girls and they all looked so wonderful. I asked myself why not?
3. I needed to do something with my Basic Grey Eva Collection paper and goodies.
4. I need to be better in journaling. My goal this year is to document every day this year.

The second item that is on my work desk is my completed Gypsy Moley three page spread for Camcas's Travling Moley Journal and will be sending it off to the next artist. Her theme was vagrant Gypsy. Such a fun, great and educational theme. I hope she enjoys it.

A few of my Angel ATCs

These cute little angels were completed using only the Prismacolor "Deco" Colors except for the purple and green in which I used spearmint and violet mist. I then stamped some cute little images on their dresses using inkadinkado and stampin' up and recollections mini stamps I had on hand.

Well, I will be changing around my blog for the first of the year so that you can stop by and leave comments and give me encouragement.
Today is the last Wednesday of 2010. It has been a rollercoaster year for us. We are hoping the 2011 will be fantastic and we can sweep some of our concerns away.
Currently we have several doctors reviewing my health as some critical issues have come in to play, but all the Doctors aren't agreeing. Can we say "cat fight"?

I want to thank my fourteen followers I have! You so made my year! Thank you for being kind and following along my rough journey.

Today on this Wednesday, I am working on a painting for my sons friend (Belated Christmas Present). Dustin painted this great background of Loren's favorite colors and I am finishing up on Betty Boop for him and then will complete the painting for him to give to her.

Out Of This World Fabulous, Wonderful Find

This weekend, I went to see my favorite ultimate fabulous hairstylist Johnny at Euphoria in Henderson, Nevada! Maybe twice a year I get to splurge and spend a few bucks on me and since it's close to the holidays, it was my day!
Well, to make a long story short, there is a talented woman who makes and finds the most creative clips, necklaces, bracelets, and knick-knacks and sells them in the lounge of Euphoria (I'll find her information and post it here later).
Well as I was leaving my eyes caught the most fantastic item just waiting for me to grab it up and buy it! I have been looking for one of these items for almost a year now, going here and there and on the web searching for just the perfect one I wanted. Needless to say, this item is fantastic and I'm so thrilled to have found it with a quick glance at her new stuff! I can't beleive no one had grabbed it, but here is my totally awesome, fabulous, adorable find.......

I love the detail, design, style, color of this "Steampunk" pocket watch. I'm just tickled with it and can't wait to wear it, or create with it! I just am so happy! Thanks for stopping by today! Hugs!

Hamilton County Humane Society Fund raiser event

Yes folks, the holiday season is officially open! Here in Las Vegas it happened at midnight on October 31st!
These two ATCs are what I created for Lazyshadows over at ATCsforall.com. Lazy lives in Greece and she has a wonderful unique artistic talent. Her cards are whimsical and cheerful. I love trading cards with her!
I need to get back into making some more ATCs to trade.
Lazy requested three items that would make her happy. Christmas Angel, Happy Santa and a femal elf. So, I made her two of the three items. I hope she enjoys them.

Charisse gave three options of things that make her happy. So, I grabbed her request post. She had "Bird" as one of the items in her selections for the MMH PIF which stands for "Make Me Happy, Play it forward".

Kitchen scented by Apple Cinnamon Bread Today!

Oh my Gosh! I'm not sure how else to put it, but today I made Mary's Super Easy and Delicious Applesauce Cinnamon Bread. The kitchen has smelled deliciously of this scent all day long. I was in the baking mood during dry time of a few paintings and projects that I have been working on today, so I grabbed Mary's recipe card that she made especially for me. I put on my apron (not really, but it did sound good), and gathered all the ingredients, my only Mixing Bowl I own and went-a-cooking!

These pictures just don't do it justice, but the bread absolutely turned out marvelous and cooked to perfection. So thank you Mary for a fabulous Easy Bread Recipe. Lots of Hugs!!

Aren't Hubby's Just Wonderful?

I am so thrilled and blessed to have a great man as my husband. He thinks about me out of the blue. I was going to say all the time, but that would be a lie! hee hee

My sweet, sweet, dear hubby bought me a cabinet for my Dining Room (which is currently my art studio) and it's just perfect! My old one that I was using finally had its moment as the draw faces came off two of the drawers and was so beat up. He was surprised I could keep anything in them. Once my studio is complete, I can leave this cabinet to hold my china and crystal and it matches all my decor of the kitchen/dinning room. I'm so tickled. With that, here is a picture of it all set up and ready for use.

Mermaid Hobby~ Wood Burning Image on a wooden box

I enrolled in Suzzi Blu's Mermaid Class on line to see if I could calm my mermaid drawings down a bit and to learn some new styles and techniques. One of the projects was to wood burn a mermaid onto a wooden box. I DO NOT recommend buying the Darice Value Pack (Wood Box Set of 2) that is ready to paint and decorate from Michaels. I noticed that the boxes are made from several different types of wood and knew that this would be a challenge to wood burn on. It was! Because of the grains of the different wood, the wood burning tool did not go over some of the wood smoothly causing severe burn spots, indentations and most of the time bumpy (very bumpy) burn lines.
As you can see from my image, it is not smooth. I became very frustrated while wood burning. I finally gave up and did not burn anything else into the box and just went ahead and painted the box with water downed acryllics and prismacolor pencils.
This Mermaid will definately be redone on a different box with proper wood to use for smooth, clean wood burning. (Meaning, I'm going to do some research and find the best recommended wood to use the fabulous wood burning tool.)

Quick Hart Teriyaki Chicken Dinner

My family just loves Hart's Frozen Teriyaki Chicken.

Hart offers many flavors of their frozen oriental chicken with sauce packets.

I thought I would share with you an adaptation of their Teriyaki Chicken.

Our family favorites are Teriyaki and Orange Chicken.

I take two packages and fix them according to Harts directions on the back,

but while I am frying the chicken on the stove in a deep pan and letting the sauce packets thaw out,

I add the following ingredients to the chicken on the stove:

2 cups sliced carrots

2 green bell peppers

1 red bell pepper

2 large sliced yellow onions

3 sliced stalks of celery

I do this to add more texture and also to make a healthier meal for the family.

I cook these on High so I get nice crisp chicken and nicely cooked vegetables.

Once everything is done cooking, I add the packets of Harts sauce to the pan and toss gently to cover.

To accompany the chicken dish, I make 3 cups of instant white rice.

Here is a small 4x4 canvas that I covered in phonebook paper, acrylics and then I cut out and painted a red dog house using a brass heart brad. I then came up with the creative idea to make a doll dog with moveable legs,ear, and tail catching a freesbie. If you ever attend a Mormon Funeral Dinner, you will find 7 casserole dishes filled with these delishious potatos, needless to say "Funeral Potatoes". These are also famous at Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners. I have always doubled the recipe and my family throughly enjoy them (and no left overs remains to put away). Just pop the dish in water and wash them spuds away

The amethyst has long been used to open the spiritual and psychic centers, making it one of the power stones. It is also used as a meditation aid when worn as a necklace.
Wisdom Stone
The amethyst is known as the Bishop's Stone and is still worn by Catholic Bishops. The amethyst symbolizes piety, humility, sincerity and spiritual wisdom. It is thought the amethyst is the perfect stone to symbolize The Age of Aquarius.
Healing properties of Amethyst
Amethyst is a gemstone often worn by healers, as it has the power to focus energy. A healer will usually wear several pieces of jewelry with amethysts set in silver, especially an amethyst necklace. The person to be healed will have an Amethyst to hold while the healing is being done. The healer will place another piece of Amethyst on the area of the body in need of healing, the heart or lungs usually.
Amethyst is used for problems in the blood and in breathing problems. Amethyst crystal clusters are used to keep the air and life force in the home clean and positive.
Amethyst clusters, points or several tumbled Amethysts placed in a window that receives sun most of the day are very beneficial to use in healing and to heal negativity in the home. Place Amethyst clusters, points or several tumbled Amethysts in moonlight and everyone in the home will be feeling calmer. Using an Amethyst as a meditation focus will increase the positive spiritual feelings. Amethyst helps overcome fears and cravings. It also helps relieve headaches.

I hope she enjoys it. It is one of our family favorites and the first Japanese dish I learned to make almost 20 years ago! Wow! That ages me as my first son was just 3 months old at the time we arrived to live in Japan. Oh, how I miss Misawa!

The card above is my anniversary card I made my husband. It is based off a picture by Debbie Mumm (I love her style). My hubby and I celebrated our Anniversary today! It actually is a wonderful day as my mom and dad would be celebrating their 50th Anniversary and my Grandparents would be celebrating their 87th.

I am so thankful for my husband as he is my best friend. I am thankful for my family. I am thrilled to have them in my life and I want him to know how much I love and appreciate him!

I participate in a "Play It Forward" Whimsical Style Forum Game.

An individual lists three items that someone else can draw for them. Then another participant randomly posts that they will draw one of the three choices listed and hopes (and prays) that what they create will make the previous individual happy. Once that is done, then the artist that drew something whimsical lists three items of choice that another artist can do and so forth. It's a great PIF and.....

I hope this makes her Happy! (Crossing my fingers!)

Happy Monday All!

Below are some cards I did for an ATCforall.com swap ~ "3 of a kind" Hosted by Paperscraps. On the cards has to be three things that are the same. I enjoy her swaps and am always thrilled to participate.
I based my cards off of Lisa Lorenz' painting that she did. I loved her bright colors that she used and of course, I am a huge frog and lotus/lillypad fan, so I thought it would be fun to create three cards similar to each other and one card for the lovely hostess from Lisa's painting.
I used prismacolor markers/ink on illustration board. These are 2.5" x 3" artist trading cards.

Hi bloggers! I am so sorry that it has been over 4 months since I have even posted anything to my blog. The truth is that I have been contemplating keeping the blog. To be honestly butal, I have no self confidence of my art. My creative mind doesn't want to work most of the time and I struggle to put my thoughts down on paper. I do however get very inspired by other artists work and that SOMETIMES helps me!

I hope you enjoy them and, if you will, please give me some feedback on them. I don't mind the negativism, it helps me to expand my trial and errors of art work.

Here are some ATCs that I did of the talented Sarah Bishop. I love "Her Girls" alot and decided to try to do some. I did these using Prismacolors and white pastel pencil.

This weekend I decided to try something new. Create some shimsy girls and do each card monochromatic. Here are four cards that I have made. The first card which is at the bottom of this set was creation of my whimsy gal to obtain how I wanted them to look like. All of these cards are 400lb. watercolor paper and drawn with Prismacolor Markers and Micron Pens.
